Empowered to make shopping quick and easy for guests at the checklanes, guest services, gift registry, pick-up and drive up while ensuring exceptional quality.

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store 
  • Communicating and interact with guests to build an inclusive guest experience 
  • Adapting to different guest interactions and situations 

As a Front of Store Attendant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard through a brand and clean front of store, that’s focused on first and last impressions and shopping experiences 

    • Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests 
    • Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact. Follow body language and verbal clues to tailor your approach 
    • Engage with guests in a genuine way, which includes asking questions to better understand their specific needs 
    • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience 
    • Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target
  • Provide an easy shopping experience that minimizes guest wait by keeping carts and baskets well stocked and clean for guests 
  • Provide a friendly response to carry out requests 
  • Maintain interior and exterior brand, including emptying garbage cans and attending to restroom cleanliness, charge electronic carts and attend to spills throughout the store as needed. 
  • Evaluate cart condition and request maintenance 
  • Stock supplies during store open hours while being available for the guest 
  • Make the guest aware of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities and events 
  • Knowledgeable of and can speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs with every guest and assist with application or sign-up as needed  
  • Understand and show guests how to use Wallet and the other features and offerings within the Target App 
  • Be familiar with all fulfillment services, and know how to direct the guest to enroll, activate and use them 
  • Partner with Leaders as needed to de-escalate any negative situations and recover the guest shopping experience while following Target’s policies and procedures 
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance 
  • Work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices 
  • Provide an easy, seamless shopping experience by keeping carts and baskets well stocked and clean for guests, including the operation of equipment to move carts from parking lot to inside of store. 
  • As order pick up (OPU), Drive-up (DU) Orders, including Starbucks DU, and DU Returns and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws. 
  • All other duties based on business needs

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Front of Store Attendant. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:

  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members 
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed. 
  • Work both independently and with a team 
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot 
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes 

We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:

  • Accurately handle cash register operations 
  • Ability to work outdoors in various climates 
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving product up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.   
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and reliable and prompt attendance necessary 
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary). 
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
