A role in Property Management means the opportunity to maximize the performance and longevity of Target’s assets while delivering value, reliability and brand integrity. Leverage and stretch your skills, whether your focus is electrical and plumbing, fire and security, smart buildings, HVAC and refrigeration, waste management and recycling, donations programs, or energy utility expense management. The Sr. Manager,Waste Minimization, Zero Waste will be leading a high-performing, diverse, and engaged team responsible for driving innovation and execution to enable Target to achieve the Zero Waste goals highlighted in Target Forward (Target’s enterprise sustainability strategy).  This role will lead a broad range of initiatives and programs that span various waste streams of materials leaving all Target Stores, Distribution Centers, and HQ locations; ultimately driving an elevated focus on increasing diversion, sustainability, and circularity to drive the needed progression towards Zero Waste certification.  This role will require industry expertise and knowledge of waste minimization diversion strategies, regulations, and methods that align with industry recognized Zero Waste certification programs.  This Sr. Manager position is an active collaborator, advocate for the team, and negotiator, working with other leaders across Property Management, Target Properties, and other pyramids including Corporate Responsibility, Store Operations, Supply Chain, etc.  Additionally, this role builds key external relationships with industry partners and waste minimization / sustainability vendors.  Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About You:

  • Bachelor Degree, BA/BS (MBA preferred) mapping to sustainability

  • Minimum 7 years overall business experience with a strong understanding of sustainability, specifically driving innovation and large scale implementation of waste and waste diversion programs

  • Familiar with industry recognized Zero Waste certification programs, e.g. experience with the TRUE zero waste certification process (a TRUE Advisor, etc.)

  • Experience with leading and coaching others                                                          

  • Cross-functional team leadership experience

  • Ability to manage projects, set timeliness and meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical, financial, reasoning, and organizational skills

  • Effectiveness developing strong relationships with inter-company teams and senior management

  • Ability to negotiate in tough situations with both internal and external groups

  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills

  • Ability to maximize relationships – team player/inspires others/takes partners across all levels of the organization and with outside vendors

  • Practical approach to problem solving – ability to identify the need for change and lead through it

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
