About the Job:
Clearance products help determine which Items go on Markdowns (permanent discounts), at what Stores/Fulfillment Centers, for what duration and for what discount % for over a billion dollars' worth of inventory across Digital, Stores and Seasonal businesses. This product portfolio supports the following business processes: Markdown Planning, Forecasting, Optimization, Execution and Measurement of Clearance Programs across channels. Clearance Pricing is one of the foundational pillars in the overarching Pricing and Promotions Center of Excellence (PPCOE) in the Merchandising Capabilities Org.
The Director of Product – Clearance Pricingwill be responsible for leading a global team of PMs (US and India) that will build & maintain the product capabilities that help run our Clearance business, orchestrating markdown planning & forecasting, and enabling the business team with tools and help them manage their operational workload. The key focus here is to continuously evolve on the end-user experience to make our tools highly user intuitive, but at the same time modernize to newer stack and scale to handle increasing complexity across thousands of item-location combinations.
Product Teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology and design work.
As a Product Director, you will set the overall strategic vision for your product space and product team, are accountable for succeeding against identified business outcomes and metrics, will set and manage the product’s budget and financials, set the short and long term product goals, and quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
You will be accountable for building, coaching, and mentoring a strong team of product managers while also building a strong team culture of progress, transparency, and efficiency across Product teams. You will be responsible to elevate your collective team’s performance by providing insightful, motivating, and constructive feedback to all roles on the team while also working with senior leadership and peers across pyramids to negotiate and remove execution related barriers for your teams.
You will drive product discovery with key stakeholders to validate hypotheses and concepts with customers before committing engineering time, as you lead highly complex work across multiple pyramids, with interrelated specialties. You will leverage data and analytics to provide competitive analysis, drive decision making, assess the health and effectiveness of your products and related P&L impacts, and to deliver recommendations to key stakeholders.
It will be critical that you possess an understanding of retail or similar area, relevant technologies and design principles in order to drive innovative and scalable solutions across multiple pyramids within Target. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
4-year college degree (or equivalent experience). MBA is a plus
10+ years of retail experience or equivalent domain experience
Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
Strong communication skills and proven ability to influence both at a strategic leadership level and cross functionally
Expert at working in the agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)
Strategic mindset and bias for action with strong ability for strategic planning, defining OKRs and driving business outcomes
Ability to lead and influence a team while fostering relationships across multiple enterprise wide teams
3-5 years of product management experience inpricing, inventory management, or equivalent domain
