Position Overview:
As a lead engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You'll bring innovative ideas and help set the strategy for the future of our platform. You love keeping abreast of the latest industry trends and use them to help you innovate. - Understand Target's business and technical environments and assist teams in resolving complex business challenges via current technical solutions by assessing viability/applicability/cost implication through POCs and prototypes.
- Collaborate with technical staff and Enterprise Architecture teams in setting technical direction across platform and drive technology lifecycle management and communication of standards/decisions to the engineering team.
- Understand data platform and help users build their business usecases in seamless way.
- Lead designing and building the Target platform API with deep focus on non-functional requirements including scalability, availability, performance, etc. while being a strong advocate of extreme agile and DevOps practices across engineers.

About you:
• Experience in Java/ J2EE, Kotlin,, SQL/ NoSQL (Postgre, MongoDB, Cassandra, graph structure, etc.), Python, Ruby, Chef, Drone, Kubernetes containers, Cloud tech, etc.
• 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation
• Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target’s technology capabilities, and key competitors’ products and differentiating features
• Demonstrates broad and deep expertise in multiple computer languages and frameworks (e.g., open source). Designs, develops, and approves end-to-end functionality of a product line, platform, or infrastructure
• Communicates and coordinates with project team, partners, and stakeholders
• Demonstrates expertise in analysis and optimisation of systems capacity, performance, and operational health
• Understands and develops solutions to foster data lifecycle management
• Maintains deep technical knowledge within areas of expertise
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
• Experience in building highly scalable distributed systems
• Understands business fundamentals and how technologies can support business goals along with how to translate business vision into a technical strategy while understanding financial implications and bringing in operational efficiency
• Has good exposure of how to evaluate 3rd party software packages to align with business needs and also carve out a strategy of Build + Buy possibilities to deliver business requirements with speed, quality and future scalability.
Experience in Mainframe decommission strategies and initiatives will be a plus.
