A role with Space Presentation & Transition (SPT) means you are on a mission to create better store space and experiences for our guest while maximizing sales. We are responsible for ensuring the right item is on the right shelf in the right store. We believe that making increasingly better space allocation, adjacency and presentation decisions will increase sales, improve guest satisfaction and reduce out-of-stocks. Here, you will partner with and manage cross-functional project teams in Merchandising, Store Design, Marketing, Store Operations and Non-Retail Procurement from strategy to execution to achieve an inspiring and convenient in-store guest experience.

As a Manager SPT, you will lead, coach and develop a team of 8+ Team Members in owning End-to-End Execution of Adjacencies and Planograms at TII. Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Team:
    • Staffing & hiring: To understand job & skill requirements & conduct timely hiring to ensure the team is appropriately staffed to manage expected outcomes.
    • Onboarding & Engagement: To enable a smooth & effective onboarding of a TM/peer onto Target, team, business & process
    • Team member performance management: To observe, assess & record TM performance on key metrics and leverage this data for pay & hike recommendations.
    • Coaching & team member development: Coaching & guiding the team on process nuances, business context, roles & responsibilities, skill improvement as well as career planning.
    • Succession planning: To identify, plan & activate back-ups in cases of TM movement, attrition etc. via timely training & coaching.

  • Business:
    • Execute pyramid space and presentation strategies
    • Gain awareness on overall pyramid & divisional sales & performance trends, significance to total enterprise & short-term/long-term strategic direction.
    • Gain knowledge of store prototypes, segmentation strategies & significance, category space allocation & flow for own business to be able to guide the team during project execution

  • Operations:
    • Workload Forecasting & Resource Planning: To have long-term & short-term visibility to upcoming priorities & ensuring the team is appropriately staffed to manage the expected workload.
    • Daily operations management for timely & effective delivery of key outcomes
    • Capability transfer & end-to-end program ownership: To plan, transition & share out progress for end-to-end ownership of all business operations execution to TII.
    • Global Stakeholder management (including CFT): To collaborate & communicate with key global partners (TII + Mpls) for strategic planning, execution, prioritization, driving accountability, driving results etc.
    • Late Change Management: To ensure effective prioritization & execution of all necessary late changes
    • Partner with Best Practice team and drive
      • Metrics-based analysis of team and TM performance
      • Process optimization and continuous improvement to achieve productivity gains & more optimal outcomes
      • KM routines and practices to ensure operational stability and team member learning & growth
      • Adoption of new products and features, and sharing experience back for iterative improvements


About you:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 – 10 years of overall experience, preferably at least some in retail
  • 1 – 2 years of experience as a people leader
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects and lead and coach other project team members
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and data-driven decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal as well as written
  • Ability to demonstrate courage, think critically, anticipate risks and drive results
