Whether specializing in law, government affairs, employee relations, risk, compliance, ethics, security or food safety, we use our expertise and influence to advocate for Target, support Target’s business and mitigate risk for the company. We work with both internal and external entities on key issues that affect Target’s ability to conduct business productively, ethically and securely. Through our understanding of Target’s business models and operations, we help facilitate Target’s growth, and provide guidance that leaders rely on to make appropriate, well-informed decisions. Simultaneously, we help protect the business by applying our comprehensive understanding of risk and the law on issues that impact our brand, guests, team members, stores, distribution centers and corporate locations.

A role in Corporate Compliance and Ethics means providing support and managing key compliance areas for Target including stores, distribution centers and at headquarters. You will also be a part of helping Target maintain a positive work environment by supporting efforts in its Ethics office.  

Position Overview:

As a Senior Automation Engineer you will:

  • Participate in structured construction, automation, debugging, and implementation activities, ensuring architectural and operational requirements and best practices are met; follow industry and department standards for change and incident management while resolving frequently encountered technical issues and monitoring systems capacity; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by maintaining automation code created by compliance teams, regularly reviewing processes, tools and practices and identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and scale
  • Provide input and assist with evaluation of new technologies and contribute to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services; Stay current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
  • Search and understand metadata about various data sources and metrics to quickly familiarize yourself with new data sets
  • Contribute to research and proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies and assist with code review and design review, writes, organizes, and maintains code based on designs with guidance, delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables
  • Establish collaborative relationships with business partners, data analysts, and other engineers and support the development of automation templates that can be leveraged by compliance partners; drive self-sufficiency through ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship with partners 
  • Contribute to, and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target’s values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, finance, economics, data science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of analytic experience working with and manipulating large datasets and driving projects through the agile development lifecycle; experience must include working with various data storage platforms (ie Hadoop, Postgres, Oracle), at least one scripting language for data analysis (ie R or Python), familiarity with compliance frameworks (ie NIST, Government), experience with SQL, familiarity with collaborative planning and defect tracking through GitHub, and the ability to adapt workflows and drive efficiencies
  • Ability to navigate both strategic and tactical client needs while ensuring compliance with the law and industry best practices
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate regulations and guidance into executable strategies, leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans
  • Highly organized with the ability to independently adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to  changing, ambiguous or competing priorities
  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key business leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across business functions
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret requirements and align deliverables with strategic intent

  • Low code and no code automation experience
