Team Overview

Data Governance teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through governance policy, procedures, and tools that balance growth initiatives with risk management and enable teams across the enterprise to understand guidelines for capturing, using, and sharing guest data.The Guest Data Governance Office is a new capability within Target designed to manage the enterprise Guest Data Strategy, Guest Data Governance program, and Guest Data Governance Policy. The Sr. Data Governance role will report to the Guest Data Owner and will be a key contributor in managing the Guest Data Governance Program.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Data Governance professional to join our dynamic team. As the Senior Data Governance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective implementation of our data policies and procedures. This role is key in collaborating with nominated business data stewards to execute our data policy, safeguarding the integrity and quality of our organization's data.

Position Overview

  • Support data governance initiatives, ensuring adherence to data policies and standards.

  • Collaborate closely with nominated business data stewards to implement and enforce data governance processes.

  • Contribute and be a key player in partnerships with Privacy, Legal, AI Ethics and Internal Audit teams to uphold the best practices surrounding processing of Guest Data

  • Assist in the development and implementation of data policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Identify and assess data quality issues, working with relevant teams to resolve them promptly.

  • Drive building of business glossary and data quality rules repository.

  • Drive data governance awareness and education programs across the organization.

  • Monitor data governance metrics and report on progress and compliance to management.

  • Support the integration of data governance principles into various business processes and projects.

  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in data governance.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management).

  • 4+ years of experience in data governance or data stewardship field

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, policies, and practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with business data stewards and cross-functional teams.

  • Proven ability to drive and implement data governance initiatives.

  • Analytical mindset with a keen eye for identifying and resolving data quality issues.

  • Foundation knowledge about running queries in the SQL and database concepts

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus.
