A role with Business Partnerships & Negotiations means supporting Merchandising in developing the best possible deals for Target through strategic partnerships and vendor negotiations. Here, you’ll work with buyers on contract terms and vendor organizations to set strategies that get the maximum value for Target. Use your analytics expertise and strategic thinking to position Target and its vendors for the most productive and successful partnerships.

Primary Function

The Knowledge Management Lead is expected to have extensive knowledge in multiple communication vehicles to support the knowledge sharing needs of Target with their vendor partners. Sr. BPs leverage their expertise to provide one on one support to deliver consistent on-brand communication, develop and execute training, test and document system development via agile methodology, and engage with TTS and Product Directors to help solve high severity systems issues.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, edit and approve all published content on external (Partners Online) website and on-demand vendor communications, prioritize and escalate system issues, and create and deliver system and process training for content contributors.
  • Partner with a diverse cross-functional team outside of Merch Capabilities Org & MCS Org as need to be to drive efficiencies around our Vendor related content
  • Partner with business owners to understand and support their knowledge sharing goals and empower them to create and maintain usable, accessible and brand right content.
  • Work in tandem with product teams to provide process and system expertise to drive product development.
  • Leverage usage statistics and analytics to inform business owners and guide content management and search optimization decisions.
  • Consult across enterprise when knowledge management expertise is needed, often with legal and Records and Information Management
  • Utilize knowledge of content management and search optimization methods to reinforce standards to achieve intuitive navigation and maximize search results.
  • Develop writing standards and processes that define usable and compelling content while conveying a consistent brand message.
  • Identify future trends in knowledge sharing processes and tools, evaluating benefits and providing recommendations for implementation.
  • Elevates the MVS brand through routine and thoughtful coaching and development of peers (systems, processes, data, customer service and team).

Desired Requirements

  • College degree; BA/BS in Journalism, Communication, or English preferred
  • 6-7 yrs experience proofreading, editing/copy editing, and writing web content for non-technical professionals 
  • In-depth understanding of Vendor business process either outside or within Target will be crucial
  • Strong understanding of content management, websites, and advanced communication systems, the inter-relationship between them and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading and editing skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, engage with, and influence leaders.
  • Drives workload prioritization with product/project teams/advocates for clients’ needs with proven results.
  • Demonstrated ability to maximize relationships, collaborate and partner with others to meet objectives.
