The Sr. Engineering Manager (SEM) is responsible for a managing a team of engineers. This role is accountable for leading a team, developing code, deploying and managing in production. You will also support your team in maintaining vendor products on the team. You will be called upon to be the technical representative for your team during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning. Success in this role will require strong and innovative approaches to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, accountability and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail.

Network Threat Protection is a core part of securing our applications and emails that may contain malicious content.
Security knowledge is NOT required for this role. This is an engineering team within the Security organization.
As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you’ll take the lead as you:
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous development.
• Drive product development and operations with lead engineers and drive technical decision making, adhering to Target platform architecture and other enterprise decisions.
• Assist in defining architecture, drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment and managing overall software development cycle by adhering to development and security standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other security teams to enhance our overall security posture.
• Manage day-to-day operations and ensure timely resolution of production issues.
• Contribute to strategic decisions for our platforms.

About You:

• 4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 1-3 years of managing teams with a strong track record of delivery for cross-functional product experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
• Expertise in 2 or more of modern programming languages (Java/Kotlin, ReactJS/Angular, etc)
• Experience designing and developing integrations between internal and external systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical details to stakeholders.
• Experience with WAF or Email protection solutions preferred but not required
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on coaching and developing talent.
• Ability to drive results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, motivating atmosphere.
• A proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Demonstrate ability to handle and navigate difficult conversations and conflicts.
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
