A role in Food Safety, Quality, & Regulatory (FSQR) means supporting processes that help Target succeed by consistently delivering safe, high quality and compliant food and beverages. It also includes any related project that supports Target FSQR’s purpose. As a Sr FSQ Risk Manager, you will leverage your knowledge, skills and expertise to lead FSQR processes for facilities located in Mexico, S. America, Central America, and in the U.S. You will:
Conduct audits resulting in facility approval or rejection and on-going performance monitoring of food vendor facilities, including FSQR program reviews through desk audits, on-site audits and other necessary regulatory and compliance activities
Support the commercialization of new products, continuous product improvement, and manage food safety and quality incidents
Solve complex technical problems or challenges and demonstrate sound judgment
Maintain accurate and current status of all vendor information in vendor database
Partner with vendors and Target technical team to review and approve product specification and label information
Develop and implement new programs and best practices for key technical programs
Ensure required local/regional resources are available for all FSQR activities with all issues escalated to Target HQ partners.
Ensure compliance with U.S. FDA (Food & Drug Administration), USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) regulations for imported foods, and regulations in country of manufacture.
Ensure compliance with all Target Standards and Corporate requirements
Provide food recall coverage and after hour food recall support, as needed
Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
About you:
4-8+ years of experience in Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance in retail, food service or a consumer-packaged food product manufacturing company
Manufacturing and supply chain auditing experience to conduct independent audits of facilities producing various food and beverage categories
B.S. in Food Science, Food Microbiology, or related discipline
Strong communication skills; fluent in verbal/written communication in English and Spanish
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Must be comfortable working independently, with minimal oversight, setting own objectives and measuring against goals
Knowledge of FDA, USDA regulatory requirements
Knowledge of GFSI auditing standards, SQF, BRC and other audits
Capability to manage time and resources to execute projects and achieve goals, including travel budgets and shared workload management
Ability to address and resolve conflict & work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Flexibility and availability to communicate during off-hours with teams in various time zones
Availability to travel up to 60% to support Mexico, Central America, South America and North America regions (and others as needed)
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working across national borders and with teams located in various global, remote working locations
Food & Beverage retail market knowledge of assigned geographic areas
Produce industry food safety or quality assurance experience
