Product Safety and Quality Assurance (PSQA) Director

This position will focus on the PSQA Third Party partnership and oversight.

Use your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals.  As a Product Safety Quality Assurance Director, you'll take the lead as you lead the following:

Leadership and Team

  • Lead a global team for overseas TM’s and U.S. TM’s related to execution of 3rd party program management and oversight
  • Understand the team’s core foundations to hold team accountable to the execution of the foundations
  • Expertise or quickly become proficient at the quality discipline and ensure competency is achieved
  • Gain knowledge of PSQA pillars to be able to speak confidently on the entire PSQA program
  • Expert or quickly become proficient in PSQA’s product testing program to enable knowledgeable management of the testing labs and ensure competency is achieved
  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes a high level of team engagement
  • Develop individual team members in technical expertise, business acumen and career
  • Assessing skills of team members, providing strong coaching and experiences that align with their interests and elevate their abilities.  Creating a healthy work environment.
  • Establishing clear objectives that move the needle and goals that stretch the team. Actively engaging in assessing our ability to deliver against future needs.  Defining success metrics.​
  • Understand and address partner needs.  Articulate a strong POV to senior leaders and peers.​

  • Representative of PSQA L7 leadership team and engagement on enterprise projects needing PSQA L7 support
  • Successfully navigate through tough choices and be able to articulate a strong point of view both internally and externally - to leaders, peers, team members and vendor/factories
  • Steer decision effectiveness and efficiency; take smart risk based on facts, figures through critical thinking

Program

  • Implement a QMS documented process to ensure all aspects of the program are captured
  • Own audit plan to ensure QMS program is being followed
  • Third party and lab contract owner for new contracts and any review cycles
  • Lead the vendor paid model initiative
  • G&O, strategy and roadmap owner for third party initiative
  • Scope of third party oversight includes A&A/H&H oversight strategy/execution and testing labs
  • Responsible to identify and provide KPI’s, operational, tactical and project based metrics associated with third party/team performance, value driven, budget and project/investigation success
  • Develop and publish quarterly business review/scorecards for all 3P activities

Relationship Management in Service to the Program

  • Third Party inspection relationship management with internal and external leaders
  • Third Party testing relationship management with internal and external leaders
  • Top to Top Quarterly and/or Annual Meeting owner for third parties and lab partners
  • Engagement with global PSQA L7 and L8 leaders to understand third party feedback and drive team to resolve prioritized issues and ensure consistency
  • Work in tandem with Global Invetigations on third party relationship pertaining to ethical issues
  • Lead DR’s to engage stakeholder teams for third party strategy (Local SPE’s, Managers, PSQA pillar leads, GI, PDD, FESQA, PSQA MD’s etc…)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in technical or business discipline with appropriate experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in industry; includes retail compliance and or audit, quality management, product or manufacturing industry equivalent.
  • Ability to travel internationally 4x per year or as needed and domestically to lab partners 4x per year or as needed
  • Ability to manage a global team requiring engagement outside of core 8-5 working hours –expected weekly
  • Collaborate and develop cross functional initiatives
  • Experience leading a team or large project teams
  • Ability to translate strategy to execution and history of driving strategic initiatives
  • Strategic thinking and ability to plan, lead, organize and execute
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to communicate process and outcome
  • Ability to simplify complex information
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Skilled at influencing

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Has led an enterprise project
  • Expertise in manufacturing or factory
  • Experience in continues improvement, LEAN, 6 Sigma certified, TQM
  • End to end understanding of Target's global and domestic supply chain
  • Experience in leading a cross cultural team
  • Experienced in project management preferred   
  • Certified Quality Manager, Engineer or Quality Auditor preferred
