The pay range is $160,900.00 - $289,700.00

About the role:  

As a Director Product Design of our Help me Find What I Need & Confidence to Buy teams,you’ll be at the forefront of Target’s evolving digital experience, shaping it for our guests and contributing to business growth. You will build, develop, and lead a group of high-performing designers to deliver a best-in-class digital shopping experience for our guests on Target’s website, mobile web, and native apps. You will focus on the experience vision and strategy for AI-driven,multi-category searchlanding and product details experienceswithin our full-funnel digital journey.

To bring meaningfulguest journeys and experiences to life, you will think both holistically, pragmatically, and through the lens of innovation while holding a high bar for craft and quality. You will establish and maintain India and US-based relationships with cross functional partners across product, engineering, data science, and other business areas while setting the vision and owning the UX of multiple programs. You are proactive, curious, ask questions, and are driven to connect the dots. As the leader of complex, nuanced space, you will seek to co-create strategies with cross-functional partners and teams across the enterpriseand believe we are better together. You are an excellent communicator, skilled at explaining design recommendations to non-design stakeholders, and are comfortable advocating for both UX and the guest.You have a demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across multiple levels of executive leadership including Senior Directors, VPs, and other senior leaders when needed.


You understand guest needs, omni-channel retail, and the role that UX plays in driving engagement, loyalty, delight, and trust while delivering business results. You will use human-centered design thinking, service design, andtried-and-true design craft principles to understand and prioritize guest needs, establish near and long-term design strategies, and deliver a best-in-class guest experience for Target.

In this role, you will hire, coach, and guide a team of approximately10 - 15 team membersto elevate individual and overall team performance. You are an experienced and compassionate leader to team members, helping them to grow and develop new skills. You have a proven track record of design leadership and inspire your teams to have a pulse on experience and innovation trends and the technological landscape, while embracing a test and learn approach to drive a pragmatic and results oriented culture to your team.

About you:  

  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience); master’s degree or post graduate experience in Design, HCI, or related field a plus

  • 12+ years of experience with user experience design delivering from concept through to execution

  • 5+ years of experience in people leadership with 3+ as a leader of leaders, with a team size of 15 or more demonstrated strength in hiring, leading, and coaching high performing, cross-geo or remote teams

  • Strong portfolio of work that demonstrates industry leading, high quality design judgement exhibiting universal appeal across a range of product categories

  • Ecommerce, marketplace, and and/ or retail experience important

  • Fluency in standard design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc

  • Awareness of best practices for information architecture, design, and usability principles

  • Strong resource management and planning ability to define high-level roadmaps, priorities, set expectations, and ensure on-track, on-time delivery in a fast-pacedenvironment

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple programs across multiple stakeholders at the same time, simultaneously managing working team & partners

  • Growth oriented, strategic mindset

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
