The pay range is $126,600.00 - $227,900.00

About the role:  

As a Lead Quantitative Product Researcher, you’ll use your experience with surveys and data to help solidify a framework to track usability and sentiment across the guest journey.  You will be at the forefront of Target’s evolving digital experience, shaping it for our guests and contributing to business growth. Your work will come to life on Target’s digital touchpoints including web, mobile web, and native applications. You will play a crucial role in driving the product development process, ensuring that our experiences align with user needs, business objectives, and technological feasibility.

As a quantitative research expert, you will certify relevance and quality of insights through thoughtful assessment of risk, establishment of clear success criteria, and the use of methodology based on sound quantitative principles and practices. In addition, you will mix advanced survey science with behavioral analysis to design, execute, and communicate strategic research in a fast-paced environment.


  • Serve as a leader throughout the research project life cycle – recommending appropriate methodology, scoping, and coordinating the entire process, facilitating in-field research and post-research synthesis through analysis

  • Prioritize and conduct quantitative research that varies in approach, scale, scope, timeframe and methodology across multiple work streams, making sure to work on the right project at the right time

  • Partner closely with qualitative researchers and market researchers to build upon each other's work and develop compelling narratives about research findings

  • Lead synthesis and analysis of research findings – activating the insights gleaned through surveys and quantitative data identifying key opportunity areas in the context of corporate strategic direction

  • Use your influence to identify and pursue user-centric outcomes within and across products

  • Effectively facilitate multiple cross functional working teams and collaborate across multiple design and product teams

  • Guide research process and mentor junior researchers

  • Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams

  • Build a network of relationships to enable your vision in service of our guest experience and Target as a whole

About you:  

  • 7+ years' experience as a product researcher with a strong portfolio showcasing successful case studies

  • Preferred 4-year degree in Social Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science HCI, or related field.

  • Expert in quantitative research methods, analysis, visualizations and relevant data tools like R/Python and SQL

  • Experience in Quantitative UX Research methods, including survey design and analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to cross functional partners 

  • A strong ability to tell compelling stories from data 

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and can easily adjust to changing priorities 

  • Strong project management skills – experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects at various stages in the project life cycle. 

  • Advanced strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills

  • You balance the need for near-term solutions and long-term vision

  • You are an expert in communicating how research connects to, serves, and improves business outcomes

  • Comfortable speaking to a diverse group of people and leading conversations to uncover research insights.  

  • Experience running, recruiting, moderating and analyzing research and thinking strategically about their application. 

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
