A role with Target Packaging is an opportunity to lead the development of packaging for Target’s beloved owned brands and exclusive partnerships. Your influence will drive sales and grow brand love through packaging that’s guest-centric, on brand, competitive “at shelf” and category relevant. Here, you’ll leverage internal and external partnerships to execute packaging planning, project management, print development, copy and structural development to achieve brand expression and market differentiation. Your work will prioritize and manage packaging projects, securing the correct resources and creative needs to deliver on time on brand and on budget. As part of a global team spanning the U.S., China and India, you’ll have partners at OBSD offices overseas, as well as international vendors and suppliers.

As a Packaging Project Manager you will develop and manage the packaging development process and projects ensuring the successful completion of project execution for specific business categories. In this role, you will utilize both analytical and conceptual skillsets to create and manage timing and resource allocation (expense, team and scope) then facilitate communication with internal and external partners.  Conceptually, you will collect and synthesize product information from key stakeholders ensuring packaging solutions meet both brand standards as well as business strategies.  Using data and analytics you will make decisions that drive change as well as identify and troubleshoot potential obstacles/gaps through all phases of the work. In addition to category work as a member of the Packaging Project Management team you will also tasked to work on broader initiatives that drive team, and department goals.  Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. About you:

  • Four-year degree
  • One to three years of work experience, preferably in Marketing
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to manage, resource and execute multiple projects in many different stages and work with ambiguity
  • Proven track record of consistent project execution
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and contribute in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills and resourcefulness


  • Is resourceful and has a talent for getting things done.
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility in approach, especially in terms of problem solving.
  • Possess a natural ability to learn how things work, as well as exceptional communication, partnership and organization skills. 
  • Possess confidence to influence without authority.
