Enterprise Insights Overview:
A role on the Enterprise Insights team means being a champion for our current and future guests, and inspiring the organization to act in their best interest. Here, you will solve diverse, complex challenges that help the entire enterprise seize our most valuable and important opportunities. You will distill relevant information into insights and implications that answer the ever-critical question: “So what?” Your influence will help spark original ideas and actionable strategies at the enterprise level, setting a clear foundation of information and insight with context and clarity that all teams can use to apply to their own business objectives.
The Category Insights team within Enterprise Insights focuses on understanding consumer behaviors, attitudes, needs, and motivations across Target’s core businesses – Apparel & Accessories, Home, Electronics/Toys/Entertainment, Beauty, Food & Beverage and Essentials – and all seasonal holidays. We consult with Merchants and Marketers, providing understanding, empathy, and insight of our guests and consumers in the development of business and communication strategies. We leverage primary, secondary, syndicated and internal sales data to paint a clear picture of what our guests are doing and why, and where the greatest opportunity spaces lie for the businesses. We translate enterprise-wide insights, like macro trends, to the business categories. And we provide clear recommendations for where and how strategies need to adjust based on what we are constantly learning about our guests. At our best, we are re-framing how our partners think about the challenges and opportunities facing their businesses based on deep and differentiated insights.

As a Sr. Analyst, Category Insights, you will play a role in partner’s guest-centric decision-making and shaping Target’s marketing and business strategies that address changing consumer and business needs. You will help scope, design and execute a variety of insights projects in partnership with internal and external partners. A role on the Category Insights team means you will contribute to helping inform Target’s current and future category business growth.
Required: 4+ years of work experience
Preferred experience: 2+ years of insights/market research experience
Experience in a variety of methodologies, including qualitative (e.g. ethnography, online consumer panels, IDIs, shopper intercepts, consumer journeys) and quantitative (segmentation, buyer analysis, concept testing, brand tracking)
Experience partnering with third-party research agencies
Experience analyzing syndicated/marketplace data and applying macro trends
Ability to synthesize findings from multiple sources to tell a holistic, influential “what, why, so what” story and start to translate into insights
Strong collaborator who can effectively influence a diverse set of stakeholders both horizontally and vertically
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
