As a Senior Manager FP&A – Services, you will play a critical role in understanding and evaluating the retail market to help size and execute a new Services portfolio for Target.  You will bring your skills and experience in various business models, investments, joint ventures and partnerships to help drive this emerging business for Target.

As a member of the working team dedicated to Services, you will apply your curiosity and empathy to deepen the relationship with our guests by offering services that focus on helping all families simplify their lives.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Scan macro markets, competition, investments, key startups and niche players to help Target develop a cohesive perspective on short and long term priorities and actions
  • Provide proactive, deep-dive reviews of multiple segments and opportunities
  • Structure disparate pieces of information and data to inform and/or guide team strategy
  • Understand and evaluate the retail market, conduct sizing analyses and business case modeling in order to provide detailed guidance regarding potential partnerships, acquisitions or investments
  • Support portfolio of initiatives by preparing company profiles and summaries utilizing primary and secondary research materials
  • Build knowledge and understanding of key players related to complex transactions, including legal, financial and tax
  • Research competitive information as well as key concepts and approaches with business partner(s) to raise the overall level of strategic thinking throughout the company
  • Provide insight on the goals, forecasts, and financial performance of the Services portfolio, and help influence decisions
  • Interpret financial and operational performance to identify business risks and opportunities
Working Relationships
  • Reports to Director Strategy Finance
  • Close working relationship, dotted line reporting to VP Services
  • Interacts with senior leaders. Working teams will include members from all levels, pyramids, and operating companies within Target
  • Merchandising Services team, including SVP
  • External partners / start-ups

About you:

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience, MBA (preferred)
  • Prior experience in retail, corporate strategy, corporate development and/or finance highly desirable
  • Demonstrated success developing and translating financial modeling
  • Strong financial analysis and structuring skills, including deal structures, negotiations, and in-depth understanding of financial statements
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect with peers, team members and executives. Able to influence team members and business partners to address complex business challenges
  • Experience developing business cases (high level and detailed)
  • Ability to interpret complex information and tailor communication of results for relevance to diverse audiences
  • Strong track record of analysis and execution
  • Strong conceptual skills, including flexibility in approach to problem-solving and ability to push beyond the obvious to find innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrate a consistent ability to contribute thought leadership in areas of conceptual and practical business management
