About the Job:
We’re looking for a leader who can elevate and advocate for the role of content design/ux writing at Target. This person will be a seasoned writer/strategist/designer, preferably with previous management experience.Day to day, you’ll lead a team of content designers responsible for design and delivery of product flows, in-product messaging, content frameworks and strategies across Target’s apps, web and mobile websites. Your team will craft simple, human-centered experiences, leveraging expertise in user experience design, design thinking, product strategy andcontent.
In this role you will...
Define a vision for the future of the content design/ux writing function at Target
Educate and advocate for what your team needs to be successfulIdentify and gain support for content design initiatives, working closely with product, design, marketing and engineering partners
Develop lightweight, repeatable processes, workflows and content templates that enable the team to maximize their impact/satisfaction
Prioritize your team’s time and focus, placing team members on results-oriented work that complements their skills, career ambitions and growth opportunities
Identify risks/blockers for yourself and your team, and clear them with urgency
Build and maintain trusted relationships with cross-functional partners and senior leaders
Build the team and skills needed for long-term growth
Help recruit, hire and onboard highly talented people
Provide regular performance feedback, check-ins and reviews for people who report to you
Coach team members to increase their impact, develop their strengths and grow their careers
7+ years of experience in digital software product work as part of a product writing, UX writing, or content strategy team
Demonstrated understanding of how and when to use UX methods, research and testing to inform your team’s work
Emotional intelligence—the ability to truly understand what each individual on your team needs to thrive and feel fulfilled
A portfolio of projects that showcases your (or your team’s) writing approach, final copy, and impact
A demonstrated ability to lead initiatives end-to-end and with cross-functional teams
Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)
Dedicated to people management as a critical part of your role; able to assess and grow talent
Comfortable rolling up sleeves and working without formal requirements or top-down decisions
Bonus points: 1+ year experience managing a writing/content/design team
