Join our dynamic Sustainable Product Development Team to influence the sustainability of Target products in all categories (home, hardlines, essentials, beauty, apparel, etc.) and have positive impact on a global scale. Join the team where business savvy meets the greater good, where maintaining Target’s positive stewardship of the environment and its resources is how we do business. Work intimately with the Product Design teams, global Sourcing teams, and external partners on projects that foster environmental responsibility and influence how Target leverages its distinctive brand and unparalleled resources to set the bar for sustainable materials and products.

As a Sustainable Materials Principal Program Manager you will own the strategy for advancing the sustainability of natural fibers made from biological feedstock (i.e. Cotton, Hemp, Linen). You’ll partner with internal teams as well as vendors, brands, NGO's, industry trade groups, certification bodies, and governmental organizations to map sustainability strategies to business priorities and influence collective action. You’ll create and pilot agricultural solutions that will inform Target's sustainability portfolio. You’ll be the lead connector to opportunities with natural fibers and regenerative agriculture that support Target's bold climate and raw material strategies. 

About you:

  • Four year degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years related industry experience
  • Deep knowledge of material sciences and global manufacturing systems with understanding of trade-offs involved with different materials
  • Exceptional at developing partnerships with external groups
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong strategic thought and problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
