The pay range per hour is $25.50 - $43.35

ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE

Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first culture on your team
  • Retail business fundamentals: department sales trends, freshness and quality, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies
  • Planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals
  • Process improvements and workload efficiency
  • Helping build a team of hourly team members

As a General Merchandise & Food Sales Team Leader, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day most likely will include the following responsibilities:

  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including planning merchandising, pricing workload, transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions and price change
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends)
  • Help assess General Merch backroom, food and sales floor areas, and assist in review of all reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve
  • With ETL guidance, lead food, food services (if applicable), inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes
  • Help enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is in stock, available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor with minimal disruption to the guest
  • Be an expert of operations, accuracy, process and efficiency
  • Enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work
  • Execute a fresh, full and food safe area during all operating hours leveraging strong inventory management area routines and Food Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper execution on all food safety standards and cleaning routines
  • Partner with vendors to ensure brand standards such as delivery and merchandising are being met and areas are full and maintained
  • Ensure team member safety guidelines and state and federal regulations are being followed
  • With ETL guidance, assess Food & Beverage and Food Service backroom and sales floor areas; walk Food & Beverage Standards to identify priorities and develop business plans and assignment sheets; review reporting to identify business trends for follow-up
  • Promote maintenance of all Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards (where applicable); foster a productive relationship with your Starbucks DM ad follow up on key takeaways from their time in stores
  • Validate and follow-up on experts' progress against Daily Assignment Sheets, production area routines, and application of best practices
  • Expect and enable team members to stay up-to-date on relevant trends and products
  • Complete all Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training requirements or certifications (if applicable)
  • At ETL director, conduct team onboarding and learning and close knowledge gaps through training and experiences
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations
  • Lead and coach the team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all GM processes in accordance with ETL direction
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience. Model, train and coach expectations to deliver the service standard
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; Lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment
  • Support your ETL to and create a safety advocacy culture by understanding how safety impacts your role and that of your team, identifying and correcting hazards, and holding team accountable to working in a safe manner to benefit themselves and others
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions
  • If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.)
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws
  • All other duties based on business needs

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a General Merchandise & Food Sales Team Leader. But, there are a few things you need from the get-go:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business
  • Ability to:
    • Lead and hold others accountable
    • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
    • Work independently and as part of a team
    • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude
  • Effective communication skills

  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Interpret instructions, reports and information
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt and regular attendance necessary
  • Ability to work in an environment that could range from 34°F to -10°F as needed
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
