Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

SPOC Component: Oversees the daily operation of the automated functions within a Food Distribution Center. Serves as the single point of control and communication in the coordination and activities of team members in the automated environment, and assesses systematic and operational efficiencies for improvements and overall quality. 

Inventory Control Component: Assists in inventory reporting and cycle counts to achieve desired results in the areas of inventory and dating accuracy/integrity. Conducts routine and scheduled auditing activities/cycle counting to assess location accuracy. Corrects any inventory record inaccuracies and conducts follow-up audits. Supports and executes the quarterly FDC inventory process.  Damage processing will also be a centralized function handled by this team.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a safe workplace by advocating safety training and accident preparedness.
  • Be available and respond to calls/alerts from the operational teams to address questions and resolve inventory issues in real-time.
  • Trained on power equipment (like forklifts) for movement and stacking of pallets

  • Operate single point of control (SPOC) system for Inbound, Shipping, and Caddy Selection
    • Monitor and respond to problems throughout shift
    • Monitor equipment health and performance indicators to create recommendations for adjustments and communicate them to management for process improvement or maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor flow rates of key areas in the system and hourly throughput
  • Learn Target’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) to understand daily operations and support system troubleshooting
  • Utilize WMS tools to facilitate inventory movement as directed by management or according to inventory processes
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with cross-departmental Team Members
  • Systematically and physically monitor conveyor movement and freight flow, address errors or obstacles as they arise
  • Utilize reports on error rates, capacity utilization, or other metrics to identify trends and make recommendations on improvements
  • Maintaining product inventory and dating standards in reserve and pick slot locations by working aging and location reports on a daily/weekly basis, which could be triggered by:
  • Physical Quantity
  • Location Integrity
  • Expiration Date
  • Maintaining accurate inventory counts in both reserve and pick slot locations
  • Performing inventory adjustments based on damages and quality reports
  • Perform cycle count verifications
  • Process and execute disposition of damaged/expired product
  • Destroy
  • Salvage
  • Charity
  • Research and process problem area or damaged freight
  • Execute return to stock (RTS) process
  • Manages the recall process
  • Embrace and practice lean approaches, six sigma tools, and 5S techniques within workplace to drive cleanliness and document defects for root cause analysis.  

Support projects/initiatives across supply chain to drive new innovations in process design/development.

JOB REQUIREMENT

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to lift and carry merchandise weighing 35-45 lbs. frequently throughout a shift and up to 60lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to read, utilize matching skills and comprehend department/product documentation
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to operate computer systems with minimal direction after receiving training.
  • Ability to research defects/issues and root cause the drivers of those defects.
  • Ability to perform basic data analysis in excel.
